Plaid Cymru has launched a petition to ensure that the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon goes ahead.

Plaid's Swansea West prospective Assembly candidate Dr Dai Lloyd said that the Tidal Lagoon would ensure major benefits for Wales - with new jobs, cheaper, renewable energy and a pull for tourists.

"However the project is now in jeopardy with the Conservative government in Westminster refusing to adequately back the Lagoon, " said Dr Lloyd, a Swansea GP.

"Meanwhile the Labour government in Cardiff is not doing enough to step in and solve the problem.

"We are calling on the governments, both Labour and Conservative, to do more to ensure that the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon does go ahead on schedule."
